Again, it's a DRAWING, not a screenshot. And if they DON'T know what it is, maybe they shouldn't put it onscreen. Maybe they should take the two seconds to ask somebody what it means or make something up that makes sense. You don't have to be a geek to at least ask somebody in tech if it makes sense. It's called continuity checking, and it's a pretty big part of writing stories. It has nothing to do with whether you're a geek or not.

One of the main reason why linux and all of it's distros keep failing all the time with the general public is because geeks and nerds like you think all the people in the world think like you, and thus know all about this or that distro.

Wake up: they don't!

The artist probably made a drawing of some command line interface because it looks nerdy and complicated (or because drawing a graphical interface like windows or mac took too much time). It might even be a manipulated screenshot. I truely believe it doesn't matter to him whether he chose ubuntu or ms-dos or some other interface... (assuming that he knows the difference between both ms-dos and ubuntu, which is just a small chance, since the majority of mankind doesn't). Anyway: it doesn't matter which one is included for the storyline (remember: it is a *comic*, not a visualised ubuntu manual). the only thing that matters is that there is some computer, that it is hacked and that access is denied.

Just be happy that some artist included some ubuntu-like stuff in his comic. Don't start a geek discussion over what he /should/ have done or which precise distro it /might/ have been. Instead: try getting yourselves a life or so, and try to think like a common man using a computer, instead of being arrogant by claiming some people shouldn't be allowed to communicate...
